The Value of Life

Jayne L

Jayne joined Forever 29 years ago as a mum of two boys aged 6 and 8. Before working with Forever she was a farmer, specialising in sheep and horses...

I had been in farming all my life as my parents were farmers too, so I either worked on the family farm or for other local farmers. In many ways I loved the lifestyle, working outdoors with the animals, but it was very, very hard work, long hours and often seven days a week. No matter how hard I worked, I never had any money at the end of the month. I came to a real crossroads when I went through a tough divorce. With two small children to look after on my own and very little money to feed, clothe and put a roof over our heads, I just knew I had to find a different way of making a living. Frankly, I had no idea what else I could possibly do as I didn’t have any training or knowledge outside farming.

I did have a couple of friends though, who suggested I take a look at Network Marketing. They told me that it could create a great future for me and my sons, helping others at the same time. I was uncertain, I didn’t know a huge amount about it, and I’d never run my own business before. Although I wanted change, the idea of such a big change made me a bit nervous. But I decided to investigate the possibilities and find out what was out there. For me it had to ‘feel’ right. It was really important that I liked the people, that I trusted and believed in the company, its ethics and what it stood for, and that I really loved the products so I could genuinely recommend them.

When I started looking around, to be honest, it was a bit depressing, nothing really inspired me. Either I really liked the company and the people running it were great, but the products were awful, or the products were high quality and exciting, but the company didn’t look stable and secure for the future. I had almost given up when I found Forever. Suddenly I was excited, and for the first time in a long time I had hope. Of course I was cautious, but I really could see a future for us all.

Here was a company that was privately owned, not driven by paying money to shareholders and investors. A company where the profit was being reinvested back into the business, and where people came first. Coming from farming I was excited by the products being natural, being focussed on health and wellbeing and consumable so customers would come back again and again. Looking closely at the career plan, I saw it was extremely fair and that people were very well rewarded for their hard work, as well as being appreciated and valued. I knew those rewards came as a result of hard work and I was happy with that. I was used to working hard anyway but seeing that I could be so well rewarded by working consistently in this business was amazing.

I took a deep breath and started my business with Forever. I didn’t have a plan B, and I wasn’t a “give it a go and see if it’ll work” kind of person. I really wanted to be successful so I could create a great life for my sons. I didn’t know how far I could go, or really how long it would take, but for me this was it.

My immediate need was to make £2000 a month so I could cut down on the hours I worked for other farmers. I still wanted to help on the family farm because I loved it, but I didn’t want to have to work 60 hours a week or be in someone’s lambing shed at 4 o’clock in the morning anymore just to make ends meet! I wanted to be able to do things for the boys and I knew £2000 a month would allow me to do that.

I put my head down and went to work. People’s perception is that you have to work this business flat out, full time, but you don’t. You just have to be consistent, learn some simple skills and do something every day to move your business forward, perhaps for as little as one hour a day. Within eight months, I had left farming and was able to work towards my next big goal which was to put my kids in private school.  I will never forget their faces when we went to see the school. Within my first full year in Forever, I had enrolled them in that school. Within three years, I was able to pay off all my debts and buy my first home, which was just incredible.

Yes, I’ve had to work hard, but it has been wonderful. One of my dreams was to convert a beautiful old barn, and we’ve done that in the stunning Monmouthshire countryside, living in the farmhouse in the grounds while we did it. Both my boys were privately educated and are now living their lives successfully; one running a business in Africa and the other writing and adventure cycling through Europe with his family. Another huge milestone for me was starting a charity in a village in Malawi where there was no water, not a lot of food, no school and no access to medicine or doctors. As a result, there is now running water, a school with a breakfast programme for the children and a medical centre - all of which we’ve been able to do because of our success with Forever.

When you first start building a business, the focus is on earning enough money to keep a roof over you and your family’s head. Once you achieved that, the desire to help other people really kicks in. More than anything my passion now is to make a difference in other people’s lives, and I know I can share what I’ve learned with others and help them create businesses too. I’ve built a team of over one million people around the world. Everyone’s goals are different, everyone’s needs are different and that’s important.

If someone says to me, ‘I haven’t got time’, I ask them if they have just one hour a day to work with me so I can teach them how to change their life. It’s really about understanding how this business works. As you learn that, you find out that success is built through consistency - and it really is worth it.

The pandemic has made a lot of people question how they live their lives. The way people want to live, work, socialise, spend time with their family and holiday is so different now. What makes the future so exciting is being able to give people a real alternative to being stuck in an office from nine to five if they don’t want to be. Being able to help people create a secure income with Forever, working the way they want to while they’re travelling, from a coffee shop, from a campervan or from their home around their family.

With the help of advancements in technology, what I see for the future is that you can live a great life while developing real success with your Forever business – that’s just incredible. I don’t think you can ever underestimate the value of that.
