Building team spirit

Rebecca and Matthew

Rebecca and fiancé Matthew joined Forever from a sporting background – a useful platform that played a fundamental part in their progression. However, Rebecca’s drive to achieve success is motivated by something far stronger...

Why did you join Forever?

I have a degree in Sports Science with Psychology and I’m a qualified sports massage therapist. My fiancé is a professional rugby player so we’ve always had an interest in health and wellbeing. However, it wasn’t until the birth of my second son that I reassessed my priorities – the thought of having to return to work terrified me! I wanted to be there for my boys and spend as much quality time with them as possible, creating wonderful memories but without having to sacrifice my career ambitions.

I researched various options, but when I came across Forever I found phenomenal products and an opportunity which complemented my background; and it would work flexibly around my most important job – being mummy to my boys!

Did your backgrounds benefit you?

Absolutely! We both fell in love with the products and Matt actually began taking some of the supplements during his pre-season (the time when players work hard in the gym to improve their fitness for the forthcoming season). And, at the ripe old age of thirty-two (that’s old in professional rugby), Matt was hitting personal bests in all of his fitness tests; this is not something that’s usually expected when you’re heading towards the end of your career! This entire experience became a powerful testimonial and helped to generate a lot of interest in our business.

Our backgrounds in sport also meant we understood the concept and importance of both visualisation and team spirit, so we implemented this into our business from an early stage. I think if you can create an environment where people feel supported, recognised and truly a part of a team, it will breed success, and it will give them courage; courage to try new things and courage to strive to reach the next level.

How did you develop yourself?

I joined in April 2013 and achieved Supervisor within six weeks, but then I stayed there for seven months – I had completely the wrong mindset when it came to goal-setting, despite my background! However, I had my lightbulb moment in January 2014 when I attended a QLS kick-start training event. One speaker in particular resonated with me; she spoke about how goal-setting had been an integral part of her success. Something clicked, and from that day onwards I became a massive advocate of both goal-setting and mindset training. That same month my case credits doubled, the following month I hit Assistant Manager, and the month after this I achieved Manager. Now I make sure I set a goal every single month to push both myself and my business forward.

What keeps you motivated?

Most definitely my boys and my team! Being able to spend so much time with my boys and not having to miss out on any of their defining moments is really precious to me. There are so many more wonderful experiences I want our family to have together, but since Matt signed to another club and moved to London (the boys and I live in Northumberland) we have been on a mission to ‘bring daddy home’. This means I need to double Matt’s professional rugby player wage by the end of the season!

I’m also keen to develop my team; moving up the Marketing Plan and achieving incentives is great, but this alone doesn’t feel like I’m helping anyone – I want to develop leaders. To help others reach a place where they can ‘sack the boss’, spend time with their children, improve their health and afford life’s luxuries, really is priceless.

Forever has enabled me to fulfil my dream of being a full-time mummy whilst earning a generous full-time income. It has given us both financial and job security; you just can’t get this from the world of sports!
